Northborough Remembers Davis Goddard

Funeral services will be conducted Monday.

Davis Goddard, 53, was taken from us suddenly on Jan. 19, 2014. He was the son of Jean (Stickle) Goddard of Framingham and the late John "Pete" Goddard.

He leaves his wife Lauren (Mahan) Goddard, and his son Tyler and daughter Erica, all of Northborough. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlene Goddard-Lyle and husband Barry Lyle of Boxborough, and Lindsay Kimball and husband Kevin of Framingham; and two brothers; Ruddy Goddard and wife Jane of Northborough, and Peter Goddard and his partner Gerry Gaerlin of Minneapolis, Minn.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Davis loved music, and was a spectacular self-taught guitarist. He played for a short time in a local blues band but mostly just entertained himself and others with his gift of music. He loved spending time at Cape Cod, golfing, Red Sox and Bruins games. He had a special love for animals especially his Newfoundland dogs who were always with him on hikes and rides.

Davis was a 1978 graduate of Framingham South High School and was a longtime carpenter with Boston Local 33, and spent years working at the Big Dig tunnels. Most recently, he was employed at Moduform in Fitchburg, where he was a quality specialist for their furniture manufacturing.

Davis was the youngest of the five siblings. He spoke fondly of his childhood memories and of his middle school years at Fay School in Southborough. He had a loud infectious laugh and could light up a room with his storytelling. He encouraged his children's busy schedules and spent many years at their little league, hockey, basketball, soccer and cheerleading events either as a coach or from the sidelines.

He and his father "Pete" had a special close bond and spent a lot of time together golfing, going to sports events, or just being together. Davis will be buried alongside him. It is comforting to know they are reunited in Heaven. Davis will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Route 20, Sudbury, followed by interment at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham. Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be directed to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
