Sophie Georgeson, 91, formerly of 40 Walnut St., Clinton, died Sunday, Oct.27, 2013 in the Oakdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Boylston, after an illness.
She leaves a brother, Nicholas M. Georgeson, and his wife, Aristea, of Clinton; and three nephews: Mark C. Georgeson, and Michael Georgeson, both of Clinton, and Stephen Georgeson and his wife, Mish, of Northborough. She was predeceased by a sister, Georgia Georgeson, a brother, Charles Georgeson, and a sister-in-law, Joanne Georgeson.
Sophie was born in Lynn and raised in Clinton, a daughter of Michael K. and Rena (Christodulopoulos) Georgeson, and was as life-long resident. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1941, and Salter Secretarial School.

For over 40 years, Sophie devoted herself to the family business, the former Georgeson’s Market on High Street, where she was a fixture as a cashier, and could often be found helping neighborhood children pick out candy.
She was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Sophie’s funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a service at 1 a.m. in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 132 School St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clinton Hospital Foundation, 201 Highland St., Clinton, MA 01510, or to a charity of one’s choice.
