Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Friday, Nov. 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Mercandante Funeral Home and Chapel.

Ruth A. (Walsh) Walker, of Holden passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 with her much loved family by her side. She was 70.

Ruth was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Maurice J. Walsh Jr and Ruth A. (Grenier) Walsh. She began to raise her family in Grafton before moving to Holden in 1963, where she has lived ever since.

Thirty two years ago, Ruth accepted a position with the Diocese of Worcester at St Peter-Marian High School in the business office. Over the thirty 30-plus years at St Peter-Marian, Ruth earned the respect of the past and present students, parents and faculty. She was passionate about her work as business manager, patiently helping each and every student or employee that needed a question answered or problem solved. She will be sadly missed by all.

Ruth is survived by her cherished family; her three children, William “Billy” Walker and his wife Wendy of Holden, Timothy “Tim” Walker and his wife Karen of Northborough, and Colleen Lewis and her husband Matthew of Wilmington; the six treasures of her life, her grandchildren; Joey, Allison, Kate, Ryan, Michael and Tommy; three brothers, Maurice J. “John” Walsh III of Millbury, Gary R. Walsh of Sturbridge, and Stephen R. Walsh of Auburn; two nieces, her best friend and Boston terrier “Charlie” ; other extended family members and many friends.

A member of the Glass Guild, Ruth enjoyed working with stained glass and making jewelry. Her pieces were exquisite. Ruth’s greatest love was her family. She was very devoted to her children, and especially her grandchildren always sharing with and caring for them. She was happiest when all were with her enjoying family gatherings, family vacations, and simple times together at home, the beaches of Maine, on Cape Cod and at Lake Winnipesaukee. She also loved to travel. Ruth was courageous in her will to live and enjoyed life as fully as possible. She was an inspiration to us all.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Friday, Nov. 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Mercandante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Funeral services and burial will be private. Memorial remembrances in Ruth’s name can be made to the Scholarship fund of St Peter-Marian, 781 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
