Community Remembers Rita Conway

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday.

Rita L. Conway, 91, of Worcester, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at the Christopher House of Worcester, after a short illness.

Rita was born in Worcester, a daughter of Walter T. and Josephine A. (Army) Conway. She attended the Worcester public schools and lived in Worcester all her life.

Rita worked in quality control in the Abrasives Division of the Norton Company for 39 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church and the Norton Retirees Club. Rita had an adventurous side. She traveled extensively throughout Europe, the United States and the Caribbean. In 1985, she took her first ride in a hot air balloon.

She leaves many nieces and nephews, including Barbara Coleman and her husband John of Sutton, Brian Bombard and his wife Lynne of Auburn, Patricia Andreotti of York Beach, Maine, Paula Piggott and her husband Neal of Cumberland, R.I., Joanne Morris and her husband Richard of Northborough, and William G. Conway Jr. and his wife Deborah of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her brother, William G. Conway, and her two sisters, Ruth M. Bombard and Gertrude E. Andreotti.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 15 at noon in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Parish, 16 Hamilton St., Worcester, MA 01604.The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
