Community Remembers Charles Allen

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday.

Charles John Allen, 61, of Belmont, died Nov. 30, 2013.

He was the loving and supportive husband of Donna M. (Moriarty) Allen; the devoted father of Anelise and Alyssa Allen of Belmont; the loyal son of the late Charles B. and Marion F. (Alebord) Allen, accompanying his parents annually to the FBI Alumni Convention; the son-in-law of Joseph and Carol Moriarty of Leominster; the brother-in-law of Joseph Moriarty of Lunenburg, Linda Moriarty of Leominster, Karen Reddington of Northborough and Kelly Moriarty of Leominster; and the uncle of Jennifer Moriarty, Lauren Reddington, Samantha Moriarty, Kevin Reddington and the late Michael Moriarty.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 130 Common St., Belmont on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are in St. Joseph Church on Monday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in Highland Meadow Cemetery.

Charlie was a magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University in security management.

He was a security consultant, working with his father in Management Consultants Inc. of Lexington, and had 20 years of experience in corporate security, communication protection, risk management and asset protection. He was an advisor to the U.S. government on many security-related issues.

Charlie was a member of the Belmont Auxiliary Special Police for 32 years, a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, as well as a member of the Search and Rescue Team in the Adirondacks.

He was the vice president of the Catholic Alumni Club of Boston, and a member of the National Speedskating team (1970-1980's).

Charlie was an award-winning photographer and correspondent, covering many championships and political activities in Boston, publishing his first photograph at the age of 16 in the Botolphian.

A writer enthusiast, Charlie completed many projects featured on Unsolved Mysteries, and was profiled in the Washington Times, Boston Globe, Providence Journal, GQ Boston and the Boston Herald and was a Consultant to many TV Networks. At the time of his death, Charlie was currently working on many unfinished projects.

Charlie was happiest supporting youth in sporting and theatrical ventures. His favorite activity was watching his daughters with pride as they performed on the stage or played games on the field or on the court. This constant support lead Charlie to become a board member of various theatrical groups, including: Reagle Music Theatre of Waltham, Belmont Dramatic Club and the Arlington Friends of the Drama (AFD theatre), as well as being a member of the Colonial Chorus Players of Reading, The Weston Friendly Society and the Boston Children's Theatre.

Charlie was a coach for the Belmont Second Soccer, the Belmont Soccer Program and the BYBA.
