What Do You See Going On Around You?

Thought - July 21, 2014

How often do you wonder, if things will ever get any better for you, for your family, or for your friends? Many are experiencing such hard times and it is difficult to have to face everyday life and not find something to whine about.  It really doesn’t matter who we are or where we live on this planet, even though we know we have it rough, there is always someone who has worse than we do.

So often we look around to see who we can blame for things we have to endure, but the bottom line is perhaps we can make better choices so the consequences we have to face may not be so burdensome.  For some, what can assist in this is being content with what they have.  Food and shelter are what we all need, and if you have been following the world news, many lack these in the highest degree.  Tragedies strike and it seems like just overnight, material possessions can disappear. We really need to live for the moment and do what we can to peacefully maintain each day.  And I don’t mean it is party time or that you are to close your eyes to what is going on around you.  But by living in the moment, I mean, we need to take the time and look around us to see what we can do for ourselves that will lead to our being content and then look out in the community a little further to see who among us we can help so they too can have their daily needs.

There are times we want everything NOW.  What is the rush? We need to learn to be realistic in our goals and dreams.  I mean really, another vacation home, or new car?  Or, can we perhaps downsize our wishes to use some of our time, energy, surpluses and maybe even money to help those around us that need a little assistance in enduring another day.  Every little bit would help.

Poem:  What Do You See Going On Around You?

It seems no matter where you go,

Whether it be to work, to school, to the store, or out for a walk alone,

You see that people everywhere are having concerns

Some of them are of the serious sort you may later learn.

With the aches and pains that come with aging

To the heart’s pains that come with raising a family

To the inner pains that come from the stresses we endure

Then for some people there are pains that linger on as there is no cure.

There are other concerns we may deal with every day

No matter how we try to avoid them they still tend to come our way.

Like the stresses that come from making back choices.

Such as purchasing items on charge cards, and forgetting about the cost until we get our monthly notices.

Then when the bill start coming in and the totals are added up

Many find their money doesn’t stretch as far as it used to and it seems there is never enough.

Life it seems is getting tougher everyday

And problems it feels at times we will have with us always.

So take each day as they come

Face your problems and from them do not run.

Learn from the wisdom you gained from your past mistakes

And if you can learn from others rather than experience the consequences of mistakes you could have made, this is great.

Live for the moment and do what you can

Think about what you will do if things don’t work out the way you plan.

Reach out to others if they will let you

Sharing with and caring for others will always benefit you.

You will feel good that you did something nice

And because it felt so good you might do it twice.

So no matter where you are,

Whether at work, at school, out for a walk or in the car.

There is always someone who has it worse than you are.

Yes, they are there, all around you, and you don’t have to look too far.

Always be thankful for what you have

Always try to find something good to do even when you are feeling bad.

Always be ready to lend a helping hand

Always be kind to others and their pains try to understand.

Always try to be patient and don’t always have to be in such a rush

You will get where you need to be eventually, so you don’t need to make a fuss.

You will find that you can make it through each day

And you will find that in the end, everything will be okay.
