Teach

Thought and Poem– July 16, 2014

With modern technology at our fingertips, many have the means to be quick to read blogs, check messages, and to be one of the first to comment on something posted.  Often when we don’t take the time to think before we add our own thoughts to another’s article/post and we may say things that don’t put ourselves in the proper light and perhaps say things we don’t mean.

We all come from different walks of life, had different upbringings, and perhaps had responsibilities that didn’t leave them time to learn all there is to learn about something.  Instead of being quick to judge another, it might be advantageous to try and politely state your thoughts while employing the art of “teaching.”

There are many ways to bake a loaf of bread, I can think of all the different ingredients that make the recipe for a while loaf of bread more appetizing.   Whether you add onions or garlic, dates and nuts, sour cream and chives…in the end it will be a white loaf of bread with a different take because of the additions.  All of them edible although some may not like garlic, or want more garlic.  There is no wrong when it comes to putting your take on your recipe.

It is the same with anything else we do.  Not everything we do will be seasonable to everyone.  And, believe it or not, it doesn’t have to be.  Just be yourself as long as you are not out to hurt others and be judging what another person chooses to do.

There is always a way to help someone see the difference in something you like that you do differently.  Being rude and unkind only will tend to turn people away and this is the opposite of what modern technology is aimed to do for us…draw us closer.

What about you?  If you don’t agree with something you have read or what another has done, do you think it is wise to take time to think before you act or speak?  Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Poem:  Teach

Teach me,

Don’t critique me.

Show me how it is done;

Being critical is how many wars have begun.

But Hey, I’m am game,

To find change,

If it is something that will keep the peace;

So open you heart, not your mouth…teach me please!

If and when I decide

I will give your way a try,

I will do so when I am ready,

So be patient please.

And if I never use what you taught, there is no financial lost,

Because you taught from your heart, there was not cost.

I see no harm in trying different ways,

But, I am comfy where I am and won’t be doing it your way today!
