Take the Time

Thought – July 23, 2014

Have you ever heard the saying, “It was here one minute, then gone the next?  When I was younger and even for some time as an adult, I never really understood what this phrase really meant.  Now at this stage of my life, this phrase takes on more meaning for me.

They also say, “Time is money.”  Such may be true but I think it should say, “Time helps you live your life.”  For all the hours we have in our days, weeks, months, and even years, it is “time” that dictates how much we allot ourselves to do certain things.

The sun sets every night.  We know this to be true.  But how many have we really observed with our eyes from the moment it starts to set until it disappears?  Mainly those we haven’t seen are because we weren’t at the “right place at the right time,” or we didn’t have “time” to see them in action.

It can make a difference on our attitude, and how we view our lives, if we were to take the time to think about the things we fix our eyes on during our days.  And then meditate on why these leave a special place in our minds and hearts.

What about you?  When you take the time to fix your eyes on what is around you, what do you see that stands out the most that can make a difference on how your day will turn out?  Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Poem - Take the Time

Keep your eyes fixed

On things in your mist

As they may be here now,

Yet quickly disappear somehow.

A beautiful sunset seen in the sky,

A beautiful flock of birds flying by,

A sparkling misty wave in the sea,

Or the coolness of a refreshing breeze.

You never know what will momentarily cross your path,

So take the time to be observant, as someday you may wish you had.

You might miss something that was specially sent your way,

And drastically could have made a difference in your day.

A sunset, each just one of a kind,

A flock of birds singing to you as they fly by;

The waves that will soon go back out to sea,

The breeze from the wind that now hides behind the leaves of a tree.

Take the time to open your eyes,

And observe the life around you as your days pass by.

Because today may be here for a little while and then it will be gone;

The sunsets, the birds, the waves, the breeze here but for a only a moment, will have moved on.
