Getting Older and Body Changes

Thought - July 19, 2014

I don't know about you, but I have noticed that every day that goes by, I are all getting one day older and that is not always a good thing.  With each passing day, life is harder to live and then add to this, my body is changing and it makes doing things much harder for me.

At one time I may have once been able to climb hiking trails up a steep mountain, but somehow today it seems that just climbing stairs is a "knock-the-wind-out-of-me-heart-racing" trial!  Can someone please try to explain to me what happened?  On second thought, don’t bother I am out of tissue in the Kleenex box!

If you are young and feel as if you have “nothing in life to look forward to,” just wait. As your body changes (and it will change), you will notice all the alterations and challenges that come with aging.  Adjustments will need to be made just like we do for our cars as they get older.  We may need tune ups and our body parts may need to be replaced.  We may need to keep a few "spares" in our homes just in case we may need a little help to hear better, see better, walk better, eat better, etc.  Our attitudes  may need to be charged so we can keep the spark in our "I-can-still-do-it"  push we may need to keep getting up every day and doing what we can for ourselves, all the while remaining positive that we will get where we need to be and then still have enough gas/energy to do what needs to be done when we get there.

What about you?  How have you dealt with all your body changes and how are you preparing yourself for other changes that are coming your way?  Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Getting Older and Body Changes

All through our lives, we have watched our bodies make changes.

Some came naturally; others presented themselves as we added years on to our ages.

For instance, we couldn’t wait until we got “older,”

But now we are there, we need a total makeover.

We use pencil for eyebrows that are no longer there.

We use Cover Girl or Clairol dyes to cover our graying hairs.

We use a little rouge on our cheeks to add a touch of color.

We use lipstick on our lips and then we smack our lips together.

We gain a little weight,

We no longer walk up-right or straight!

We drag our feet.

We wake up to night sweats that not only drench our bodies, but also our sheets!

We no longer have firm muscles.

Bending to tie our shoes can be a struggle.

Our double chins grow hair where we don’t want hair to grow.

Our eyes lose their shine and no longer have that youthful glow.

We under our eyes, we have bags.

Our once “to die for breast” now sag.

We drool and may need to wear bibs.

And for some reason, our noses tend to drip.

We twitch and we jerk,

We have to keep wetting our lips as our daily medications make them as dry as a desert.

We blink our eyes uncontrollably,

We have to wear tri-focal glasses to cover all directions we are looking at, so we can clearly see.

And it will only get better from here, I just know it will.

We will have more fun to look forward to, and more changes will come as we continue to go downhill.

All the while, we will be happy to do what we can,

All the while we will now be wishing that we were young again!
