Mary Goodnow Burial Site
The British and French were at war from 1702-1713, this lead to hostilities in North America. During this period there were several raiding parties of French speaking Indians into the Marlborough region. During one of these on August 18, 1707 Mary Goodnow was attacked and slain. Her body was buried where it was found about a ½ mile from her home. In 1889 a marker was placed at the site. The marker can be reached using the path into the woods starting from the Pheasant Hill parking lot.
