George Washington Plaque

This plaque is located on Main Street in front of CVS.  It was installed in 1932 to celebrate George Washington’s 200th birthday.  Similar plaques were placed along the route he used in 1775 and 1789 when traveling through Massachusetts.  In 1775, he was en-route to Cambridge to take command of the Continental Army.  In 1789, he traveled through New England as the newly elected President.  On Friday October 23rd 1789, President Washington passed through Northborough on his way to Boston.
