Northborough Annual Tree Lighting

Annual Tree lighting Saturday, December 7, 2013

The Northborough Annual Tree Lighting will be held on

Saturday, December 7, 2013 starting at 5:30 pm at the corner of Blake Street

and Rt. 20.    This year’s celebration
will feature the 100th Town Chorus singing Christmas Carols, holiday
bells for the children to ring, hot cocoa and cookies, and many local merchants.

The annual tree lighting began in 1968 in honor of the
memory of Neil Ellsworth, an Army private first class, who was killed in
Vietnam in 1967 at the age of 19.  Born
and raised in Northborough, Ellsworth was the first town resident to die in the
Vietnam War. The Ellsworth family is honored every year by the naming of the
tree in Neil’s honor.

The 2013 Annual Tree
Lighting is full sponsored by United Bank.
