YOWZA! Owners Frustrated With Delays, but Opening Expected This Week

Building isn't always paradise, but the frozen yogurt will be.

The plan was to open at least before summer ended. In an ideal world, that's when a frozen yogurt business would love to be in .... business.

will celebrate its "soft" grand opening on Oct. 20 and a grand opening Halloween weekend, calling it "Trick or Froyo."

Scott admits his frustration with the delays.

"The plan was to be open in the summer in the warmer months before school resumed," said Scott. "Most of the delay was at the beginning of the project in early June. Timing our project around vacations was a challange. We finally got on a roll in late July. Except for a few bumps, we have been sailing along fairly smoothly."

Scott said ultimately the opening of YOWZA was delayed about six weeks.

"The locals and the surrounding communities are anxious for us to open," said Scott. "We have carloads driving up daily. 'Are you open? When? Can't wait! We'll be back!'"

Along with partners James and Brenda Brown, Scott and Lala Boyers, who also own Lalajava Coffeehouse, are opening YOWZA at 269 West Main St.

Building it "from the ground up," YOWZA is a weigh and pay, self-serve frozen yogurt place. Boyers says featured flavors will change each day, and can be topped with a variety of choices available at the condiment bar in the middle of the store.

"One thing is certain—we are opening YOWZA in a community that is very dedicated to supporting the local business," said Scott. "The project may have taken a bit longer than expected but I promise it will be worth the wait. We will not let you down."
