Yoga Studio Supports Veterans With PTSD

Monday, which is Veterans Day, Ebb n' Flow will offer three donation-based classes to support this population.

Every day, 22 returning veterans die from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and that's just heart breaking," Kim Gebo says.

"It doesn't need to be happening. We need to raise awareness, and let people see these signs, and let veterans know that there's people out there that want to make a difference," said Gebo, who owns the Ebb n' Flow Yoga studio, 265 Main St.

Ebb n' Flow now is fundraising to support the work of Mindful Yoga Therapy for Veterans, an organization that provides tool kits -- a book, a poster guide and a CD -- to help veterans with PTSD, Gebo said.

"They've given out 8,000 toolkits, and they would like to give out 30,000 by 2015," she said.

The first class is from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. The second is from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The third, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., is for veterans and their families.

The studio also will distribute bracelets that say "Support our veterans," and note the toll-free number for the veterans crisis line, Gebo said.

"A lot of veterans are afraid to ask for help. But if they're coming to something like this, they can grab a card," she said.
