Have you noticed a new restaurant while driving around the MetroWest area recently? We know you don't just stay in town when you want to eat out: so here is a round-up of restaurant news around the area.

Former public school principal Sara Lane decided she would take some classes, draw up a business plan with friend Ruth Merola, and open a frozen yogurt café, Taffy Cafe, in downtown Dover.

Milford
Mango Closes After More Than Decade in Milford

Mango Thai Cuisine, a Milford restaurant for more than a decade, closed in July. Its owner removed all of the tables and other property he owned from within the site at the Hannaford plaza, and took the sign down too. The property owner, Plains Milford Realty, said the restaurant owner told them recently he planned to close, that business had been down for some time.

Shrewsbury
Royal India Cafe Opening Soon in White City 

The White City Shopping Center has been filling up more and more since the new owners took over the plaza and renovated the existing buildings and parking lot. The newest addition, Royal India Cafe, is expected to open soon after receiving approval from the Board of Selectmen earlier this month.

Taco Bell Drops Kids' Meals and Toy

Going out for tacos will be less alluring for kids, at least at Taco Bell, which announced that has plans to discontinue its kids meals and toys,according to a press release posted by the company.

Framingham
Downtown Market Abruptly Closes

Asinayo Market, a family-owned business that has been operating in downtown Framingham for nearly a decade, has closed.

Mexican Restaurant Opens on Route 9

After months of renovations, Taqueria Mexico opened Friday afternoon. The restaurant occupies the space of former Top Shelf restaurant, which closed in January, and PC Healthstop, which moved into a new location across Route 9.

Northborough
Phantom Gourmet in Town

According to owner Marc Turo's Facebook post, Phantom Gourmet filmed at Bistro Limoncello on Monday evening, July 29. Head on down if you want to be part of the action. Wear your purple gloves!

New Sushi Place in Town

After the past two restaurants located at 259 West Main St. suffered from problems related to Board of Health inspections, the business will again change hands. Formerly China Moon, and before that Great Wall, the Board of Selectmen have approved a Common Victualler License for Shangri-La Yaki Sushi.

What Happened to Chef Who Won Food Network Show at Sea Dog?

Last year, Sea Dog Steak & Ale in Northborough, perhaps in an effort to reverse some negative publicity related to customer reviews and health department inspections, welcomed the Food Network to its establishment. The network filmed an episode of"Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell," a show that pits two chefs who are vying for the job as the executive chef at the restaurant.

Westborough
Owen O'Leary's Progressing Slowly

Owen O'Leary's Restaurant and Pub is progressing slowly, Director of Public Health Paul McNulty says.

McNulty wrote in his June report to the board of health that he and Health Inspector Terry Gilchrist checked on the progress last month.

"Going kind of slow here. Only a few workers here and not as far along as I thought it would be," McNulty wrote.

Chick-Fil-A Talks Revive Plaza Connector Talk

The owners of Westborough's Speedway and Belmont Plazas met about building a long-discussed connector road between their adjacent Route 9 shopping centers.

Plans for a Chick-fil-A chicken restaurant at Speedway, at 290 Turnpike Rd., are driving the talk, which, town officials and Chick-fil-A representative Mark Donohue say, dates back to the mid-1980s.

Orange Leaf Yogurt Opening Soon in Natick

Frozen yogurt, or froyo to those who enjoy shortening names, is growing in Massachusetts and across the country; one company that is really showing this growth is Orange Leaf Yogurt.

New Burger Joint Coming to Natick This Fall

Earlier this week the Natick Planning board approved the plan to open a new burger joint on Route 9. The "fast-casual" burger joint Smashburger will open at Sherwood Plaza, near Christmas Tree Shops, the first week of November according to the Boston Globe.

Marlborough
Deck Dining at Bolton Street Tavern a Step Closer

"The beauty of this location is really overlooking the water," Bolton Street Tavern owner John Stounaras told Marlborough Patch when he was first talking about an outdoor deck for dining at the Bolton Street Tavern.

Medfield
Basil Closed for Renovations

Basil Restaurant was closed until July 30 while the bar area was renovated. Owner Tom McGue told Medfield Patch he looked forward to welcoming customers back July 30 when the bar and restaurant re-opens with old favorites and new additions to the menu. 

Blue Moon Now Serving Frozen Yogurt

Patrons can now enjoy a choice of chocolate, vanilla or twist frozen yogurt and can add their choice of 15 toppings including cookie dough bites, Oreo crumbs, gummy bears, Reese's Pieces chips, Heath bar, M&Ms, oats, granola, sprinkles, walnuts, chocolate chips, cherries, and more.

Sneak Peek Inside 29 Sudbury

Co-owner and former Sudbury resident Greg Hill allowed Sudbury Patch inside the town's newest restaurant to see how it's shaping up. Opening night for the Hudson Road eatery is scheduled for Aug. 10.

Sudbury Resident Bugged Out Over Dish From Lavender

It wasn't what she was expecting, but a customer of Lavender Asian Cuisine & Bar received an added bite in her orange chicken the other night that she wishes she never saw.

According to a Sudbury resident who wished not to be identified, a takeout order of the savory dish came with a dead bug. The resident said when notified of the bug, the manager offered to send a new batch.

Sierra's Restaurant Given New Life
Acton resident and owner Sam Cannarozzi had suddenly closed his business of 23 years without a hint. Those loyal customers were left wondering: What happened?

But Cannarozzi has a second chance with Sierra's, and the popular restaurant reopened in mid-July as a sports pub with three TVs and piped-in music. But don't worry. Those margaritas are also making a comeback.

Acton

New Restaurant Eyed for Nagog Park

Fans of American style cuisine will soon see a new restaurant in Acton that will fill the empty lot that once housed ScupperJack’s Restaurant & Bar. At its July 8 meeting which was taped by Acton TV, the Board of Selectmen OK'd a common victuallers’ and entertainment license for the Red Raven at 3 Nagog Park.
