Daily Voice Closes Mass. Sites

All employees at the Central Massachusetts sites were laid off today.

The parent company for The Daily Voice, a group of local news websites, is closing its Massachusetts sites, now-former Managing Editor Jennifer Lord Paluzzi announced Monday on her blog.

"For readers in Grafton, Shrewsbury, Millbury, Northbridge, Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, Auburn and Leicester, that’s an end to the daily news they’re used to receiving," Paluzzi wrote. "For readers in Milford and Upton, the websites they were given only two months ago are now gone. There are seven reporters out of work. One managing editor. Three people in sales."

As of early Monday evening, the sites were still live, with no formal announcement about the closings.

Paluzzi, who four years ago helped launch GraftonTimes.com, was with the company through its sale in 2011 to Main Street Connect, which was renamed The Daily Voice. Paluzzi said she will be resurrecting her blog, The Greater Grafton, which she had maintained before working for The Grafton Times.
