NORTHBOROUGH PATCH STORM CENTRAL UPDATES, TIPS, CLOSINGS & MORE:

Saturday, Feb. 9

8 a.m. According to the National Grid outage map, and reaching out to readers, it looks like Northborough made it through the bulk of the blizzard powerful...meaning "with power."

8:30 a.m.: Be sure to upload your best snow shots here.  

9 a.m.: Honey Farms is open. Lalajava Coffeehouse, Chet's Diner and Lowe's is not.

10 a.m.: Britney's Cafe apparently not open; no answer.

11:30 a.m.: Some snow totals from NWS: Framingham, 30.5; Natick, 24;
Northborough, 29.5; Milford, 28; Shrewsbury, 27

12:20 p.m.: Fun fact from the PD: one person was pulled over for violating the governor's emergency ban. The driver was pulled over, and ultimately his car was towed, but not because of the ban; he had numerous other pending violations.

2 p.m.: "The Friends of the Northborough Senior Center regret the cancellation of their 9th Annual Spectacular at Whitney Place on Sunday, Feb. 10, because of concern about access and parking in the wake of the storm. Please visit the Friends' website for information about the return of ticket money and how to bid on restaurant and retail gift cards donated for the silent auction. http://www.friendsofnorthboroughseniors.org./"

3 p.m.: All Heart (the Heart tribute) is on for tonight at JJ's and there is no cover charge

Friday, Feb. 8

8:30 a.m.: With everyone scrambling to get the things they need, the town's buzzing with frantic drivers and shoppers. Be safe. You've still got time to get home.

11 a.m.: Snow is building, and roads are getting iffy. Texas BBQ, Honey Dip Donuts, Dunkin' Donuts and Zem Han remain open.

Noon: The Northborough Senior Center and Northborough Free Library announce they are both closing

12:30 p.m.: demanding everyone off the roads at 4 p.m.

3 p.m.: Walmart announced it will be closing at 4 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 7

8:30 a.m. Patch awaits announcements of cancellations and/or delays.

10 a.m.: Keep your pets safe in the storm. Here is a pet safety guide to consult that is provided by the ASPCA.

11 a.m.: Police Chief Mark Leahy told Patch that extra officers and dispatchers are already assigned, starting at 8 a.m. Friday morning and continuing (for now) through midnight on Saturday. The PD's Facebook and Twitter accounts will have the latest information.

12:30 p.m.: Fire Chief David Durgin speaks extensively on the preparedness plan for Northborough. Extra staff will be on, chains are going on the engines' tires and generators are tested and ready to go. Read the full plan here.

1 p.m.: National Grid releases a statement that it is prepared for "widespread, prolonged power outages."

4:30 p.m.:

5 p.m.: Check out this video, which lays out the plan of action for Northborough's DPW

5:30 p.m.: There's no AC/DC tribute (Dirty Deeds) at JJ's on Friday, but the sports bar is still planning on bringing in All Heart, the Heart tribute, on Saturday

6 p.m.: The Senior Center will be open on Friday, but there will be no van transportation. "Our policy is to cancel van transportation when Northborough schools are closed due to inclement weather," said Kelly Burke, director.

6:42 p.m.: The town issues an offical message regarding the storm

7 p.m.: So, what are people buying to prep for the storm? Check out this video.

9 p.m.: The Celtic Tavern announced that it is provided free food and coffee for plow drivers who drop in during the storm, and will remain open, with Walshy behind the bar

11 p.m.: Bistro Limoncello will remain open throughout the storm.
