Selectman Amberson Honored for Efforts with Ellsworth Memorial

Selectman Amberson is honored by the 173rd Brigade.

On Friday, July 12, at 6 p.m., Selectman Jeff Amberson will be honored for his efforts involved with the Ellsworth Memorial, as he led a coordinated effort of volunteers to bring light to a once dark monument. The memorial, which pays tribute to Neil Ellsworth, killed in Vietnam in 1967, now has light.

Amberson will be presented with a letter of appreciation for his efforts by the New England chapter of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, Ellsworth's unit in Vietnam. A presentation, too, will be given by State Rep. Harold Naughton.

The event is co-sponsored by the 173rd Airborne Brigade and the Mass Military Order of the Purple Heart. The MOPH will present the Ellsworth family a Purple Heart bronze grave marker.
