Police Remind Public of Winter Issues

The town's winter parking ban starts Dec. 1.

Prepare to shovel the sidewalk in front of your house again this winter.

And to not park your car on a public street overnight.

Northborough Police Chief Mark Leahy reminded the public on Wednesday of the winter issues on the horizon, including that the town's winter parking ban starts Dec. 1.

Among the relevant town bylaws are:

  • The parking ban, which runs from midnight to 6 a.m. until March 31. Violators face a $50 fine.
  • Property owners must remove the snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of their land "within six hours after any accumulation of snow." Violators face a $50 fine.
  • Anyone tossing snow from private land and into a public way faces a $50 fine.
