Goal is 135 Blankets for Project Linus

Local 'blanketeers' are that much closer to their goal. Can you help?

With 44 put together last week by an enthusiastic group at St. Rose of Lima, and 94 in hand, Lisa Hodge is that much closer to her goal to create 135 blankets for Project Linus.

Project Linus is a national nonprofit whose mission is to "provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer 'blanketeers.'"

"I started hosting my own event three years ago," said Hodge. "The first year, I collected less than 35. Last year was 130. I have promises from a bunch of people so I hope to reach my goal. I encourage the no-sew blankets, as anyone can make them. But we take anything homemade. So I currently have one quilt and a few baby afghans. I bring all the blankets to the chapter coordinator in Auburn and they distribute in the Worcester area."
