Apple Bars Take Applefest's Cake
Carleen McKinstry's entry won the 2013 Applefest Dessert Bake-Off at the Northborough Senior Center.
Apple bars with caramel and pecans earned a place in Applefest history on Friday.
Carleen McKinstry's entry won the 2013 Applefest Dessert Bake-Off at the Northborough Senior Center.
All eight entries featured apples as the main ingredient.
Judges Patricia Cluff, Mark Lessner, Kelly Scangas and Chris Stratford evaluated the desserts on presentation, creativity, overall appearance, taste, and overall impression. Cluff is this year's Applefest grand marshal.
Alexandra Molnar earned second place for her applesauce upside down cake.
Elaine Bell earned third place for her harvest moon apple cake.
The winners were announced during the Applefest Luncheon that followed the bake-off.
