Teen Empowerment Coming to Core Connection; Wreath Decorators Needed

Here's what we're telling you about for Friday, Aug. 23.

1. Trinity Church is seeking talented decorators to compete in its second annual Festival of Wreaths to be held on Dec 7. The prize is not a wreath, but cash.

2. Have you ever tried Pickleball? It's a cross between tennis, ping-pong and badminton, and it's a heck of a lot of fun. There is a group that plays twice a week right here in town, including on Fridays.

3. On Friday, Aug. 23, Mullethead, which plays everything you know and love rom the hair band era of '80s rock, returns to JJ's Bar and Grill.

4. The Core Connection has announced it will host Teen Empowerment Exercise Programs starting in September. "At The Core Connection, LLC empowering young women through a non-competitive, full body fitness program is the premise behind its Strong Body-Strong Mind fitness program. The program was originally designed for teen and pre-teen girls to encourage and promote self-confidence by demonstrating to the girls how strong and capable they are and that any goal they set for themselves is achievable. A similar program for boys has been recently added."

5. Do you have an opinion on the Downtown Improvement Project, particularly as it has affected businesses on Blake Street? Owners of businesses recently talked to Patch about their discontent with the project. Do you agree?
