Learn About 18th and 19th Century Medicine

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your day in Northborough.

It's Friday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Westborough to help make your day a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Learn about 18th and 19th century medicine.

The Northborough Historical Society hosts Dave Downs presenting "The Marvelous Amusing Quack Medicine Show" at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is free.

2. Hear local music.

"Santa to Sinatra: Jazz @ First Parish" is at 7 p.m. Friday at First Parish, 40 Church St., and features vocalist Steve Marvin with the Ed Harlow Quartet (Ed Harlow on saxophone, Chris Taylor on piano, Keala Kaumeheiwa on bass and Mark Holovnia on drums). Tickets are $13 for adults, $25 per family and $10 for students, and includes sandwiches, snacks, desserts and juice.

3. Do you like Hormel bacon?

Walmart Northborough offers samples from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

4. Epiphany Children's Boutique is having a sale.

5. In case you missed it: Dashing through some Northborough neighborhoods Saturday will promote happier holidays for families in need.

Participants in the first Holiday Dash 5K Fun Family Walk/Run are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys, all of which "will be split between Northborough Helping Hands Adopt a Family Holiday Program, Toys for Tots, and Friends of Families in Transition," Sharyl Corrigan, who organized the event with Liz Nolan, said in e-mail interview.  Northborough's Purple Rose also has donated to the event.
