Brown Bag for New Lincoln Street Students; Sign Bylaw Open Meeting

Here's what we think you'd love to know on Tuesday,

1. The brush drop off dates have been posted for Northborough residents. Cleaning up your yard? This is where and when you can drop off the bags and truckloads of debris.

2. On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Lincoln Street School has scheduled a brown bag lunch for new students and their parents. Meet your classmates, teachers and assistants and learn about your new place of learning.

3. Construction and resurfacing of Otis Street began last week, starting with improvements to the drainage system. Starting on Monday, Aug. 19, Callahan Construction began by adjusting the finishing grade of castings and milling the roadway to apply new pavement. The project should be completed next week. Detail officers will be at the scene directing traffic.

4. The Northborough Southborough Music Association is rolling out a new website in conjunction with the start of the new year. "Go Daddy is working to direct the old link to this new link but this has not happened yet. The web site strives to provide parents and student helpful and timely information about our schools music programs and special events."

5. The "temporary sign bylaws" in Northborough have generated much discussion and debate in recent years. The Planning Board invites those who are concerned about it to a meeting on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Northborough Free Library to participate in a discussion about the temporary law. "Over the years, this particular section of the sign bylaw has presented challenges to business owners, residents and town boards. We would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions pertaining to the bylaw as we begin to consider changes to the zoning bylaw for the 2014 Annual Town Meeting to be held in April."
