About this column:
"Cheezu" means "say cheese" in Japanese, and it sounds cool, so Northborough Patch decided to give the name to its regular photo column. Cheezu features gallery-worthy photos of people, places and things in town on a regular basis from local photographers. If you have a shot you would like featured in our column, email charlene.arsenault@patch.com.Duck...er...verb not noun. Why does Northborough have so many sea gulls? The Atlantic Ocean is...ahem...as the crow flies... more than 30 miles away. Could it be the smell of...ahhh... chicken wings coming from The Texas BBQ Company that's enticing them?
The mini-thaw was just a tease and chance of snow was near 100% for Washington's Birthday. Liz Minneci was waiting for her daughter to pick her up near the old town hall on Main Street. So cold, she could barely speak.
"The Icemen Cometh"- Is it our imagination or does everyone in Northborough acquire a certain look this time of year? Sort of pallid and plump with a stuporous smirk and hallow eyes. Hmmm...must eat more chocolate covered cake donuts from Nicky D's to keep up strength. Shot with a Nikon D70s camera with a Nikkor 35 mm lens.
Will it ever stop? - A new coat of snow, glazed with ice, covers a car parked at the Northborough Shopping Center on Main Street. Shot with a Nikon D-70s and a 80-200 Nikkor lens. The photographer, who is no fool, shot the photo through his windshield.
Back to school, kids! The fierce polar bear mascot of the Lincoln Street School comes out of hibernation long enough to warn everybody that snow day is over...back to business ya'll. (He's from the South Pole.) Taken with a Nikon D2H and Nikkor 28-70 1: 2.8 zoom lens with a special snow removal filter.
"Spirited Delivery" - The shadow of a worker unloading a shipment of spirits is cast upon the wall of Northboro Liquors on Main Street. The photo was taken with a Nikon D3 with a 28-70mm Nikkor 1:2.8D lens.
This statue honoring "The Minuteman" is located in front of the Northborough Town Offices at 63 Main St. The photo was taken with a Nikon D-70 and a Nikkor 28-70mm 1:2.8 zoom lens. The twilight winter sun added a rosy golden cast to the scene.
