Walgreens - Goodbye Register Rewards, Hello Balance Rewards (or is it goodbye Walgreens?)
Beginning 9/2/12, you can register online for Walgreens new Balance Rewards loyalty program. In-store registration begins 9/16/12. The current Register Rewards program is being retired. Is this good news or bad news for Walgreens' customers?
The new program details have not been posted on the Walgreens website yet, but you can see an outline of the program here: http://ow.ly/d91Pn.
Apparently you must be a Balance Rewards member to get sale prices. I'm not sure if this is just on items that have points rewards or all sale items. Note: not all items have points rewards.
What do you think of this new program? Yay or nay?

Update: Apparently Walgreens is keeping the Register Rewards program for now since it's advertised in the 9/16 circular. However, you WILL need to sign up for the Balance Rewards program if you want the sale prices. Otherwise, items will ring up at non-sale prices. Balance Rewards will expire after 6 months if you do not shop at the store using the Balance Rewards program for 6 months. Just one more reminder to add to your calendar.
