Traffic on Lincoln and Pleasant is Increasing

I have lived at the corner of Lincoln and Pleasant street for 34 years.

Recently, the traffic taking a short cut from 290 to route 20 by taking Pleasant and Lincoln Streets has dramatically increased. Large trucks, commercial buses and even tandem trucks are screeching around the corner all through the day making it impossible for my grand daughter to nap.Now that the windows are open it is deafening.

Due to the two schools on Lincoln Street, trucks should not be allowed to barrel down these streets as a short cut. It has even gotten to the point where the trucks are breaking branches of the trees in front of my house. Heaven forbid any child walking home would meet up with these monster trucks.

I live on lincoln, unfortunately there is nothing you can do. I, myself am one of those added cars. I would normally go rt 20 but I'm not going any where near there right now. Luckily it's just temporary. The town is under construction and there is going to be inconveniences. If you had to drive on 20 you would complain too. Maybe they can put up no trucks signs or have a cruiser sit and ticket every once and a while if speed is an issue.

It's not so much the cars...because of the school there have always been lots of cars, its the trucks that shouldn't be on these streets. Yesterday there were cement trucks, dump trucks , and all kinds of trucks flying by.

If Crawford Street could get a truck exclusion, we should be able to also.

When did Crawford get one?

There are always trucks on this side of town and it's not easy to get a truck restriction sign - ask though. Maple has a school also. We have gripped and griupped about it and haven't gotten far. We did get one restriction on Collins rd. The rest of the streets that connect are out of luck and sadly these roads are windy and narrow. It's no way to live. The trucks belong on 20 - this isn't a city! good luck!

This is laughable:

I got a letter from the Town Engineer today, dated May 29th, postmarked May 25th, telling me that Downtown traffic would be temporarily routed down my street (Summer) to offset the number of people trying to take a left onto South St. during the project.

So how is it that I got a letter today, written "before" it was even sent, telling me that something was going to take place starting yesterday?

Town efficiency at its best. I'd be more impressed if there was a unit at either Park/Summer to catch speeders, or Summer/School to watch people continuously blow the stop sign.

The traffic on Crawford is horrible now because of Northborough Crossing. No one on the boards cares. They don't want to be tough on new business but they don't care about the people who live here.

@ Micheal So sad isnt it? I totally understand. I was hoping for new selectmen in order to see new people appointed to the boards and hopefully see new results. With the same ol same ol BOS in office - I fear nothing will change. The eye closed and tardy ZBA member is still on the board - when is the board going to make any changes with that??????? Residents have been asking since February. I think residents should get together and put the pressure on for the changes we want and need. It can't be just one group of people. Others should express their concerns as well.

All of down town, rte 20 and other intersections are a mess. How long is this supposed to last?
Instead of getting off 290 Church st, I'm going to Solomon Pond mall exit Hudson st to Allen st to avoid driving through town if I can help it.

NPD has placed the radar trailer near Summer and South. That's not particularly going to deter anyone.....
