Gloucester- State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester) said today that he would appoint Dean Cavaretta to serve on the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Education if Cavaretta is elected to the State Senate in November. Tarr said that Cavaretta’s experience as an educator and his passion for strengthening education qualify him for service on this powerful and important committee.
“Dean Cavaretta has real and valuable experience in the classrooms of the Acton and Acton Boxborough Regional Public School systems, and that experience and a passion for providing our kids with the best education possible make him a clear choice for service on the Committee on Education. He’s already shown leadership on educational issues by developing an extensive 10-point plan to make our schools stronger,” Tarr said.
The Joint Committee on Education has subject matter jurisdiction over all matters relating to education through the twelfth grade.
“It’s one of the most important committees in the Legislature because it is focused on developing an educated population, which is our greatest natural resource and an important element of our state’s economic competitiveness,” Tarr said.
“My district has always cared about excellence in public education. With today’s news that the Senate Republican Caucus plans to appoint me to the Joint Committee on Education, I look forward, if elected, to use my practical and real world experience to benefit our kids and schools.”, Cavaretta said.
Cavaretta’s commitment to education is the reason he created a second campaign website:www.MomsAndDadsforDean.com
