Bringing a Guitar, and Spirit, Back to a Boy; Northborough Cares

There are many reasons to live in Northborough: quiet streets, good schools, Wegmans, etc. But one of the best reasons is Northborough’s giving spirit. In my experience working with many different community organizations and individuals, I believe Northborough is filled with the most compassionate, caring generous people.  Northborough residents and businesses really care; they get out there and help on a moments notice when a need is there.

Recently, I had a conversation with a young boy. He was speaking with me about how excited he was that he was starting band in his new school. He is homeless and has currently been placed here by the state. His mother informed me how much he loves music, and most especially guitar. She spoke of his talent so proudly.

She also spoke of his two guitars they had to leave behind, and how she is unable to go back to get them due to an unpleasant situation. I sent out a request amongst friends and neighbors here in Northborough and within a couple of days was able to deliver a guitar (I must say a very cool blue guitar) to my little friend.

This young man only spoke to me about his love for guitar and I just felt his passion. His words inspired me to ask for the guitar for him. Well tonight when we brought it to him we asked for him to play for us. WOW. He is only in fourth grade and has amazing talent. He played beautifully.

A local wonderful woman not only donated a guitar, but being a typical Northborough resident went above and beyond and added some lessons. She helped bring joy to a family going through a very difficult time. Seeing his eyes while he played and his mothers look of pride really made my day. Miracles are in the small things....

This is just one story. I am lucky to witness such amazing giving acts of kindness almost daily. Northborough truly is filled with inspirational people.

I would like to also give some shout-outs to wonderfully generous local businesses and organizations.

In August, Louie’s Trendsetters Barber Shop and Profilo Day Spa (Westborough) shared their time and talent along with the Northborough Junior Woman’s Club and provided free back to school haircuts for local homeless residents and clients of the Northborough Food pantry. So if you stop by Louie’s or Profilo’s please take a moment to thank them and let them know how much their generosity is appreciated.
