No More Excuses

It's been two weeks since I first wrote, but that's because Labor Day was last Monday and meetings were canceled. So back in the saddle I am!

Tonight's weigh-in wasn't terrible. I'm down .8 pounds, and I started the post-Labor Day routine. Though I like to drop more at once, I am always reminded by my fearless leader Kathy that it's a journey, not a race.

The challenges lately have been time. I work—a lot. I have two dogs. I have nesting to do to bring a baby in to my house this winter.

I also have, if you haven't noticed, excuses.

In Weight Watchers, I've learned that excuses are normal, but they are habits that must be broken. Kathy asked us tonight what habits we could change that would lead us to our goals quicker.

My answer was simple, as I was just talking about it with another WW member: I need to have a back up plan for nights when my excuses want to get in the way of my success. I am going to throw away my take-out menus and have frozen healthful meals in the freezer as a go-to meal.

It seems like a simple choice, but it's a hard habit to break. I made the promise to conquer this this week, out loud to Kathy and everyone else at meeting.

My to-do list for tomorrow: hit the grocery store so next Monday I will be able to go to meeting and tell Kathy that I did it.

It's the small changes that add up and breaking one habit could be just the thing I need. As Kathy says: "If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got."

Great job Susan!! One of the easiest ways, I find, to keep healthy meals in the freezer is when I am making our nightly dinner, make enough to freeze a portion or two. There is really no extra work since I am making it anyway - so much better than ordering a pizza or worse :-) Best of luck on your journey!!
