My blog today is about passing on information to thy neighbor. I want to dispel any thoughts that this is about anger. Please read below before you VOTE on Monday May 14.
1) BOS incumbent Pantazis is pushing for multi-family to be put back in the Business East district for town meeting 2013. Not even before the ink is dry... No big surprise, since he voted against the citizen petitions. It should be noted that approximately only 15 people opposed these petitions. Which leads me to believe that the majority of citizens do not want multi-family in BE. Town Meeting is a public forum for all to partake. I want to elect in BOS whom are going to fight for the people.
2) In an article written recently, the chief of police is upset and concerned. He was supposed to get six more officers over a six year period. This was mitigated in 2005. He has not been able to add more staff; after promises... from the BOS. When and if he is able to hire new staff; he wants the 1st it to be staff for Melican Middle mostly due to bullying!
3) The ugly building downtown where Boost resides was built against the approved plan. It was requested of the BOS to issue a cease and desist order; they denied that request.
4) FedEx has been issued a cease and desist order after a town worker complained. Bartlett Pond is being contaminated. Why is there not a person to oversee and check on these bigger projects to make sure they adhere to the rules and regulations? Perhaps, new selectmen can do something about it. Thank you for Mr. Litchfield for stepping in and stopping the FedEx construction.
PLEASE VOTE on May 14 - MONDAY! Lets thank the incumbents for years or service and allow new people to come forward. These are only three-year terms. Per the town website: "The powers and duties of the Board of Selectmen include appointing the Town Administrator, Police Chief, Fire Chief and Town Accountant, as well as various boards, committees and commissions. The Board of Selectmen also issue certain licenses and permits such as alcohol, car dealerships, common victualler, and entertainment; enforce special sections of the Town Code; and regulate the public ways."
I may not be able to attend every meeting but I will try and keep you informed.
