On day three of my juice fast, in the morning, I was happy to look down at the scale and read that I had lost nine pounds—nearly ten—since Sunday night. Last night, however, I was snaking dangerously into "give up mode."
First, I didn't really enjoy any of my concoctions, again. With this being the only source of food, nutrients ... and pleasure, really ... it had better taste good. It hasn't. But we're perfecting the recipes, and trying those that are recommended. It is helping. This morning's mix of pineapple (and a lot of it), grapefruit and parsley was delicious. I'm finding that simple is tastier.
And secondly, I arrived home from band practice (another activity that is not fun when you are starving), to find my partner cleaning up a section of basement that had flooded not only with water, but remnants of our juice gone by. Parsley, rinds, chunks of papaya ... it all floated, and exploded, into the washing machine.
Our plumber has told us on countless occasions to stop treating the garbage disposal as if it is a .... well .... garbage disposal. He said they should call it "scraps that fall off the plate, only" disposal. Apparently it's not fit for "everything that is cleaned out of the juicer."
So while this might be an unusual tip, we remind those who are juicing to throw most of the produce remnants into a bag.
As for the juicing ...
I'm slightly light-headed, but I think it's because I'm not drinking enough water. I will do that today. I'm able to fight off cravings—and there are many—by visualizing it. I "bat away" cheeseburgers and other flying lures from my conscious mind and smack them into the subconscious, where they resurface in my dreams. And that might be why I'm not sleeping well. Yes, it's true. One of the biggest draws, for me, in trying this juice diet was to have more energy. I have long been an insomniac, and tend to get tired easily, in general. It's only three days in, but so far, that hasn't changed a bit.
But again, I lost nine pounds!
I'm sticking it out.

Keep it up. The first week is always the hardest.

To each their own, but this is not a good way to lose weight...and unfortunately you may find it all come back on when you eat again. Starvation feelings and light-headedness is not good! But good luck with whatever your goals are!

Chris - I am actually doing it not just to lose weight, but for the detoxification component. All inspired by "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead." The plan is to eat a lot healthier once off the fast.

Your juicer is separating the fiber from the juice. You may want to stir some fiber (from the juicer, not a powder) back into it to get a more "whole food" benefit. Also the fiber will help with slowing digestion and detoxification.
