How to Make the Most of Your Savings at BJ's

Did you know that you can use more than one coupon on many items at BJ's?

Yep, you can actually use as many manufacturer coupons as there are bar codes in shrink wrapped items plus one BJ's coupon for that product.

Here is the policy:

"What are the guidelines for using more than one coupon?

When purchasing a multi-pack of “individual for sale” packaged items, which is a set of items that could be sold individually (each item has a barcode) shrink-wrapped and sold together, Members can combine one BJ's-issued coupon with manufacturers' coupons. However, you cannot exceed the actual retail price in the total value of coupons.

Examples of a multi-pack:

  • Three-pack of toothpaste
  • Two-pack of salad dressing
  • Three-pack of taco kits

Examples of products that are NOT multi-packs:

  • Box of cereal containing two bags (the bags cannot be sold individually)
  • Case of water
  • Case of soda
  • Case of motor oil

Members may also use one BJ's coupon and one manufacturer's coupon on a single item.

In terms of manufacturers' coupons that are “buy one, get one free,” we will honor the coupon for items in stock as long as our price does not exceed the maximum value stated on the coupon. If the manufacturer's coupon does not state the maximum value, we cannot honor the coupon.

We cannot accept multiple BJ's-issued coupons on a product."

Rayna, I'm often skeptical when I see posts like this because they usually hone in on a very specific thing that very few people need (usually not me), but I find this tip to be exceptional! Great entry - thanks for sharing!

If you spend more than $5,000 per year at BJ's, it might be worthwhile to upgrade to a BJ's Rewards membership. This is not a credit card; it's a type of membership where you earn 2% back. Rewards are mailed to you in the form of a BJ's gift card twice each year. You can even earn 2% back on BJ's gas! Here's the link for more info: http://tinyurl.com/73dv7hc

I just got back from using your tip about the coupons! The cashier had NO idea about the policy you outlined (and was pretty rude) as was the manager who came over and said I couldn't do it. I whipped out my iPhone and showed them their own policy, and they still gave me trouble. I didn't back down and spoke with the general manager who finally let me do it. I just want to make sure people know not to get pushed over by their cranky staff, because this is a great tip! And I (eventually) walked out with 36 bottles of Vitamin water for a grand total of $0.98!!!!

Hi Dan - I'm sorry you had trouble getting BJ's to honor their own policy. Good for you in your persistance and thank goodness for smart phones. It definitely paid off! BJ's is one of the more difficult places to use coupons, in terms of the employees not knowing their own policy. I have complained to corporate several times, but never got a response. Often times I'm in such a rush that it doesn't seem worth the effort to challenge their rejection. I'm glad you did! BTW - Where did you find so many Vitamin water coupons? Was it from a tearpad? Thanks for letting me know about your experience!
