Superintendent Announces New Assistant Superintendent

Charles Gobron, superintendent of Northborough public schools, announces the hiring of Christine Johnson as the new assistant superintendent.

Submitted by Charles Gobron, superintendent of Northborough public schools.

I am pleased to announce that the Northborough, Southborough and Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committees approved my recommendation to appoint Christine Johnson to the position of assistant superintendent of schools.

A screening committee consisting of teachers, parents, community members, administrators, and school committee members had recommended a number of candidates for my consideration. Each candidate I interviewed had strengths and each one could make a contribution to our districts. Christine Johnson definitely stood out due to the breadth of her experience, the quality of her interview with me, and the depth of the recommendations from her references.

Christine spent eight years as principal of Northbridge High School. As a principal, she gained a reputation for her efforts at improving academic achievement, strengthening the school environment for students, staff, and parents, and solidifying public support for the high school. She has spent the last two years as director of finance and operations for the Leicester Public Schools, where she demonstrated expertise in budget development and management, organizational leadership, and facilities and building maintenance.
