Enjoy easy to do spring activities with your family.
This week's Frugal Family offers ideas for family fun activities that cost little or no money.
Have an “upside Down" or "backward” supper by serving the main meal and dessert together in a buffet style. The kids love it and it is an easy way to sneak healthy foods in to the meal by offering fruits and veggies with special dips or sauces that you don’t offer every day. Here's a great place for ideas on that.
In celebration of Northborough Little League’s opening day on April 30 and the Boston Red Sox’s opening weekend beginning on Friday, April 8, plan a special party with your family. Offer ball park food like hotdogs, soda and chips. Enjoy the game with a dessert of popcorn, peanuts and icecream.
Visit Green Path Garden Center and choose easy to grow sunflower seeds. Plant them in a lightweight planting soil and small peat moss pots and place in a sunny window. Water regularly and do not allow them to dry out. Once the soil outside thaws and the fear of frost has passed, plant the sprouts outside in a sunny place – pot and all. The kids will find them interesting and rewarding. They provide a beautiful flower by July, bird food by September and garden interest throughout the winter.
Force Forsythia to give your mood a boost while waiting for April showers to give way to May flowers.
