I have been a Northborough resident for more thab 27 years.

However, my hometown, where I was born and raised, is Newtown, CT. I attended kindergarten at Sandy Hook Elementary. I attended other elementary schools in Newtown and graduated from Newtown high School in 1977. I received my high school diploma on the stage where President Obama addressed my beloved home town.

When I was growing up there, Newtown was a very tightknit community. The former students of the town have a huge hometown page on Facebook called "You Know You Grew Up in "Newtown" If. We have 1,587 members to date.

It was within this group that hundreds of us sat together and watched the news of horrific tragedy unfold.

Being that, we have all reunited and all obviously still love our hometown no matter how scattered we are now, the devastation we all felt at what happened shattered us. 
From this group, another group was formed: "Newtown Alumni Fundraising Group," of which I am a proud member.

This group is taking donations that are being handled by the Newtown Rotary Club. One hundred percent of every penny donated goes directly to the needs, whatever they be, of the town of Newtown.
