E-Books Now Available for Kindles at Northborough Library
Amazon has finally made library e-books available for Kindle users. Access is through Overdrive, the vendor for e-content for the C/W MARS network. (In other words, you don’t go directly to the Amazon site to borrow.)
Go to the library’s home page and click on the Overdrive icon in the left column. When you get to the C/W MARS digital catalog page, choose “Advanced Search” in the red box on the upper right. Then on the next screen, under “Format,” choose Kindle Book from the drop-down menu.
Please note that the collection at this time is small, and many titles will be checked out. But you can put yourself on a waiting list. Libraries have to buy individual copies of these books, just like printed versions; the publishers do not allow unlimited access. But we’re excited that this
new service is now available, and will grow in future years.
WANTED: A volunteer to set up the software for the scanning function on one of our public printers. Please see Deborah Hersh at the Reference Desk or call 508- 393-5025, ext. 5.
