There is still time for you to make a difference for a student to have a positive start to a new school year in the fall!
Northborough Moms and Tots and Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc. is approaching its half-way point for its fundraising goal for the 2012 Backpack Drive. These two groups are once again teaming up to continue with its Fifth Annual Backpack Drive to benefit students in need in the Northborough public schools. Last year, a total of 125 backpacks were requested.
As in years past, the support of businesses, community organizations, and individuals is crucial to the success of this drive. Here’s how you can help:
Make a monetary donation (checks should be made payable to Northborough Helping Hands Assoc. Inc.) and mailed to PO Box 383, Northborough, MA 01532. Be sure to make a note that the contribution is for the backpack drive.
Donate gift cards to stores that will be used towards the purchase of school supplies.
Donate new school supplies to the Drive. There are two local drop-off locations: 4 Longfellow Rd, Northborough and 1 Stratton Way, Northborough. Both locations will have a well- marked plastic bin to receive your donations beginning June 1.
Items needed include large backpacks (17" or larger in gender neutral colors); pencils; Crayola crayons, markers (fine and broad point in classic colors) and colored pencils; glue sticks, pens, pencil sharpeners with barrels, pocket folders, one subject notebooks, insulated lunch bags, scissors, highlighters, rulers, 3x5 index cards, large erasers, loose leaf lined paper, scientific calculators, one and three inch binders, 3x3 post it pads, three subject notebooks, and black Sharpies fine point.
Any donations will be used 100 percent towards the effort. Northborough Helping Hands is a recognized 501(c)(3) charity and your monetary donation is tax-deductible to the extent provided by the law.
As in the past, every donor will receive special recognition in our post project press releases, on our Web site, and on a flyer which will be included with the distribution of the supplies.
